The Bible Study Section in FaithLife OS is your guide to a structured, chapter-by-chapter study of the Bible. Here’s how to navigate and use it to deepen your understanding and keep track of your progress.
Accessing the Bible Study Section #
Navigate from the Dashboard
From the main FaithLife OS dashboard, go to the menu navigation and select Bible Study. This will open up a view where you can start exploring books of the Bible.
Choose a Testament and Book
- Inside Bible Study, you’ll see options for the Old Testament and New Testament.
- Select the Testament, then choose the book you’d like to study. You’ll notice each book has a status indicator showing whether it’s Not Started, In Progress, or Done.
Exploring Book Details #
After selecting a book (e.g., Genesis), you’ll see essential information to provide context and insights for your study:
- Author: Who is traditionally considered to have written the book.
- Total Chapters: Number of chapters in the book.
- Approximate Time Period: Historical context and timeframe.
- Type of Book: The genre or style, such as history, poetry, prophecy, etc.
- One-Sentence Summary: A quick overview of the book’s main focus.
- Theme: Key message or purpose of the book
- Jesus in Every Book: How the book points to Jesus or connects to His life and ministry.
Below the book overview, you’ll find a list of chapters, each with its status (Not Started, In Progress, Done), so you can monitor progress as you study chapter by chapter.
Chapter Study Template #
When you select a chapter, you’re provided with a ready-made template to guide your study and record your insights. Here’s a breakdown of each section in the chapter study template:
- Chapter Overview: Summarize the main ideas or events in the chapter here, providing a broad understanding of the passage.
- Key Verses: Add any key verses that stand out or hold particular significance. These verses can serve as memory verses or focal points for reflection.
- Study Notes: This section is for in-depth notes, interpretations, or any thoughts that arise as you read the chapter.
- Cross References: Record any related verses or chapters from other parts of the Bible. You can also add URLs to additional resources or external references that provide further insights.
- Application: Reflect on how the chapter’s teachings can apply to your own life. This could be a call to action, a mindset shift, or practical steps inspired by the chapter.
- Prayer: Conclude your study with a personal prayer based on the insights or convictions gained from the chapter.
Marking a Chapter or Book as Complete #
Once you’ve completed studying a chapter, change its status to Done. When you finish an entire book, update the book’s status as well to keep track of your overall progress.
